Recently, a few team members joined the garden volunteering session at Penfold Age Well Centre, where we helped give together; we gave the community gardens a refresh. We pruned overgrown plants, cleared weeds, spread fresh compost and bark chippings, and built supports for the garden’s tomato plants so they can continue to grow and flourish.
Working together as a team on a project like this reminded us just how important green spaces are and the added value, they provide for all. Gardens not only provide valuable habitats for pollinators and other wildlife, helping to improve biodiversity in urban areas, but they also create peaceful places where people can unwind, connect with nature and enjoy the many benefits that spending time outdoors brings to both physical and mental wellbeing.
The Memorial Garden, a central feature, is a special space where residents can enjoy fresh air, socialize and spend time surrounded by nature. Knowing that our efforts will help keep it beautiful, welcoming and accessible for everyone who visits made the day even more rewarding.
Volunteering together was also a fantastic way to step away from our day-to-day roles, work alongside colleagues in a different setting, and contribute to a project that will have a lasting impact on the local community.
Our volunteering day was organized through Marble Arch BID’s Community Programme, which brings businesses and local organizations together through environmental projects and community initiatives. We’re proud to have played our part and look forward to taking part in more opportunities to support the neighborhood we call home.
